RICHARDSON YOUTH RACING LEAGUE PROVIDES YOUNG GEORGIANS WITH A FIT-FOR-LIFE MENTALITY AND OLYMPIC ASPIRATIONS

ATLANTA (March 9, 2009) – Spring fever is in the air, and the Richardson Youth Racing League (RYRL) in partnership with the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club is offering  young Georgians with the chance to participate in a canoe and kayak league that provides a safe and fun environment on the water and promotes a healthy lifestyle highlighting fitness and nutrition.  Registration for RYRL is open now until March 29 and the season starts on March 30.

The RYRL six-week spring season is open to ages 10 through 15 and includes two practices per week, t-shirts, equipment, access to the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club facilities as well as participation in two weekend race events where they will get to show off their new-found skills and race a variety of boats. For more information, contact the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club at (770) 287-7888 or visit www.lckc.org.

Funded by Richardson Technology Systems Inc. (TSI), a technology solution provider located in Suwanee, Ga., RYRL teaches canoe and kayak skills and safety to children and teenagers and also helps participants develop leadership skills, a life-long love for fitness and nutrition, teamwork, an appreciation of nature and a positive attitude for life.

Through the RYRL program, participants will learn the ASPIRE philosophy of RYRL, which promotes a positive Attitude, Sportsmanship, Perseverance, patience of other Individuals, Respect for others and Enjoyment and Emotional development.

“This program is an opportunity for young people to learn a new team sport, have fun and aim for greatness,” said John Depalma, interim program director of the RYRL. “We have seen past participants go on to win the Olympic trials which is truly inspirational for our program.”

“Our program not only provides an outlet for children to increase their social skills and their physical activity but it also gives them a chance to excel and establish a new found sense of confidence,” says President of Richardson TSI Joseph Ciotti.
